I normaly try to pride myself on keeping my garage nice and tidy..a few times some thing has come up that's had me just tossing tools into a drawer, but for the most part I keep things safe and neat.
BUT recently, the garage has turned into a nightmare! The first step down that road was letting household stuff be stored there..a table, chairs, filing cabnet, etc.
but I really am at a loss on how to shelf or store or whatever stuff like engine pullies, body panels...seats...an engine...the garage looks like a hell hole and when I really stood back and looked to see why I couldnt fix it, it turned out to be vehicle parts.
I do have a small one-car garage, so I may just have to deal with it..but can someone give me any ideas?
Wal-Mart makes plastic containers that are 2x2/3x2 and a bit larger, kind of like big Tupperware. They are stackable, which is cool over in a corner, very tuff and can make it through one engine rebuild very easy...check them out. You will probably see many other ides in that section which would work...cheap enough to.
My local Sam's Club is selling chrome wire shelving mounted on casters. $73/unit. I have two right now and looking to buy more. The shelves are height-adjustable for odd shaped stuff and the wheels allow them to be moved about the garage as needed. For me, mobility is the key to keeping things organized and accessible, but it's always a battle.
When working on projects, I make a point of cleaning and putting my tools away as I use them. Although it may seem to add time to a task, it saves time in the long run.
