I have a 94 B4000 4X4 automatic with 103000 miles on it. The last couple of days traveling on the highway (65 MPH) the truck started some erratic shifting fits (Pulsing Jerking) it’s like it did not know what to do, im not sure if it was slipping or trying to shift. I don’t think it was trying to shift. The next day around town it would do the same thing during normal in town driving. One thing the truck has always had is a Speedometer that would bobble up and down at around 65 MPH and up. But it has been doing this for almost 2 years. Any ideas what could cause this type of problem? I changed the Trans fluid and filter about a year ago.

Thanks
I'm not sure about your model, but a common failure on some Rangers that causes erratic shifting and speedo problems is the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) located on the rear end, easy to change and costs about $25.
Good luck.
