5.4 Woes Continue

You may have read my post two weeks ago about the engine problem in my F250. To make a long story short: the 2005 F250 (1800 miles) stalled at a stop sign. My wife was able to restart it and limp home. I started the truck at the house and the thing was barely running with raw fuel coming out of the tailpipe. Roadside Asst towed the vehicle to the closest dealer (not the selling dealer). The service guy said two injectors were stuck. Those were replaced. They then heard valve train noise. Service stated that some lifter collapsed due to excessive fuel in the oil. I have built many racing engines and knew this was a disaster. I immediately called Ford and requested a new truck or at least motor. I also wanted a loaner car since the repairing dealer nor the selling dealer would give me one. I was denied the loaner. Today (13 days in the shop) the new lifters arrived and the noise is worse than ever. An inspection shows galling of the cylinder walls. Ford is going to replace the motor with an assy line unit. They also agreed to pick up the tab on my rental car that I've had.

I have mixed emotions over this, but overall am pleased with the response.

Thanks for listening.

Sounds like you need a new dealer. Not providing a loaner for a 2005 vehicle in for warranty work is nonsense.

At least they came through in the end. If they had done what you asked them to do in the first place they would have saved time and money. At least your truck is getting fixed right (hopefully).

I agree. However, the factory warranty states that it does not cover alternate transportation in the event of repairs. It is up to the dealer to provide the loaner. The selling dealer wouldn't do it because they weren't performing the repairs. The repairing dealer wouldn't do it because they didn't sell the truck.
