Cigarette Lighter.....help
I noticed on my brand new pickup that the cigarette lighter does not work. I am having it in in a couple of weeks for clearance light install, and can have it and a short list of other things fixed on it. However, i am wondering if someone can maybe help me fix it before then. The lighter and radar detector do not work when plugged into the cig lighter plug, but the power point works fine. Also, the fuse for the cigar lighter/obd II is not blown. I do not know how this got missed on inspection, but where can i go from here? I cannot tell if it has no power or the plug it too 'deep' to make contact.....

On my 2000 F250 the plug just pulls off the back. Pull it off and check it with a test light for starters. My guess is it just isnt seated right to make good contact. If you have no power to the conector and the fuse is good then there is a wiring problem and let the dealer fix it.

On my truck I dont even have to remove the dash if I remember right. I disconnected my cig lighter and cut the end off to wire a scanner. I think it can be reached from under the the dash without taking anything off.

im going to check the DEPTH of it, it may be that my plugs arent making it to the bottom for some reason. I find it very hard to believe Ford put the lighter in and the wire to it and forgot to connect it to anything.
