I have a '94 Bronco with a 5.8L engine. I want to change the PCV valve, but it fills most of the space between the valve cover and the air intake. Is there a way to remove and install without removing the air intake?
patience and a dextrous hand. It can be done with it all in situ but just take a while to work out where it is.
run your hand over the top of the passenger side rocker cover towards the back and you will feel the top of the valve sticking up with the hose running back then up through 90 degrees to the back of the intake plenum. You have to do it all blind but there is space to get the valve out of the cover then off the hose.
it's in the same place on my 5.0, just changed it 2 weeks ago. It's at the back of the
passenger valve cover. I sat up in the engine bay to reach it a little easier, if you pull the hose off 1st there's room to get the pcv valve out. Just put it back in the same way. good luck...Al
I may be a bit backwards, but I had a hard time removing the PCV valve from the hose because I could only get one hand on it. I opted to lift it off the valve cover, then unscrew the hose from the top of the air intake (PCV valve still attached) and then ran it out the backside towards the driver. I installed it the same way and will do so again when time comes. It was a snap. Good luck!
Apologies, I wrote a poor description. I only removed the PCV from the valve cover, not removing the valve cover itself. After popping the PCV valve off the valve cover, I couldn't pull it loose from the hose w/one hand. I opted to unscrew the U-shaped hose from the top of the intake manifold and then replace the PCV valve. I then snaked it back around the back of the intake manifold and popped it back down on the valve cover.
stand on a cinderblock over by the front bumper and the RF tire you should be able to reach it, i would replace the grommit and the PCV hose and check out the PCV filter inside the airbox also listen for any kind of Vacuum leak once the engine is started
