>I have a 79 f150 4x4 and I would like to know what the gears
>are in back.The tag reads
>DH CN 9FB
>50 9 361A << Are you sure that is not 331A???
If it is 331 then it is a 3.31 rear axle but I don't list any possible axles for a 4x4 with that ratio either. I don't list any 3.61 axles, but then the Chilton's manual that I have for your year does not list my 78 truck's 3.07 rear axle ratio either.
You may just need Mil1ion's help on this one or check with the trans forum.

Thanks guys! It has been several years since I looked at one of those tags. Has anyone seen a tag layout and decoder for these, kind of like a VIN or door tag decoder?
