Chris, the main topic of what I originally posted was referring to the Event Data Recording module, not the RCM or restraint control module.

The insurance adjuster manual says that the EDR is stored it the non-volitile memory of the RCM. I know from reading the output from the PCM that it sends the info you were discussing to the RCM.
So perhaps the manual is right. Also, GM uses the RCM for that purpose. Anyone got a part number that is different? Not concerned, but just curious.

They put them in a steal box way in the floor in the middle of the vehicle so they do not get destoyed in a crash i think. I wish i could take mine out too.Read your manuals they record how far the wheel was turned and brake and gas application and how fast you were going along vehicle systems check.
