Wink 6.0 Gone Gone Gone

Finally sold my 2004 F250 CC Lariat SB 6.0 today. Thank goodness its gone! I've had it advertised for quite a while and finally its sold. It was by far the best truck I've ever owned, except for the 6.0. Way too much time spent in the shop and always poor mpg. I honestly believe the paramount reason for deciding to get rid of it was Ford's customer service or should I say lack thereof. The dealer bent over backwards to help me, but got little or no backup from FMC. This is not sour grapes as I fully intend to be one of the first to try out the new 6.4 in 2007. Hopefully it will be betterengineered engine. Meanwhile, I will continue to be a part of this forum because it is absolutely the best place to get honest and legitimate information on Ford Powerstrokes. I'm looking forward to my next one in little over a year.

Glad to see that you were able to sell the SD with the problem 6.0L. To bad that you had so many problems with it, but I agree with you on the next Powerstroke (or whatever they may call it) being better engineered! 2007 is really right around the corner...since they will probably introduce the new SD's in mid-year '06.

Good luck with your next step in the truck world. Hate that you had a bad experience.

BTW: Thanks for all your years of dedicated service.

Everybody keeps talking about a 6.4. Has Ford actually made an announcement or is this just rumor?

Who knows?

Maybe the 6.0 is here to stay. It is a great engine and it would be cheaper to just address the issues. They have to anyway. International has been making dependable diesel engines for years, Ford just has some issues that only affected some engines and this all seems to be mostly around the Ford portion of the engine. If you have a great computer and marginal peripherals then you will call it a marginal computer. If they use the 4.5L, they still have build around it, so who knows how it will come out? Check out this link, read the last paragraph on the first page.

http://trucktrend.com/roadtests/ultimate/163_0407_smart/index.html

This is the first I heard that Ford isn't using the new 4.5. It even mentions that 6.0 may be available for this International at a latter date. All I heard and read up to this point was that the 4.5 was to be used for the '07 Expedition Max and the smaller trucks, but I never thought they would actually use it in the Super Duty. I know it has been mentioned in FTE but never took it seriously because it is so much smaller with less power. Again who knows?
