Losing Power

I have a 1999 F-150 and recently I have been losing power going up hills. I have changed the fuel filter. What other options should I look at. Thanks

Welcome to FTE!

What kind of maintenance has the truck had? How many miles? Does it happen only on hills? Is the check engine light on? Need more info to help you out.

The oil has been changed every 3000, and the air filter was changed 2000 ago. It just happens up hills, has 75,000 miles on it, and Check engine light has come on just once.

Same Problem

I am having the same problem on my truck too. Its an 00 F150 with about 100k miles on it with regular maintenance. K&N Filter. Its just been tuned up with plugs and fuel filter. Cats have been checked. Still same problem. I have also noticed a 3-4 mpg drop in fuel economy. No check engine light though. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure. Not since I've had the truck. The fluid looks good, but that's all I can say. Is that a possibility?

Fuel filter? Not always caught on a tune up. Could be pulling more ca-ca into the fuel path when you push it harder for the uphills.

It is a slim possibility, tranny has to work harder shifting ect. something to try especially since you have not done it. The filter can get clogged and the tranny strains to pull the fluid through. But normally you will have hard shifting if this is the case as well.

When it does shift down at high speeds while cruising it is a very hard shift. That may very well be the problem. Thanks for the suggestion.

It feels like it is flooding out when I go up hills. Could the spark plugs be bad? It almost feels like it surges when it goes up hills. Any help??

are you using the a/c when this happens? My truck did this too only when the a/c was on. it ended up being a computer problem. the computer forget to adjust the engine when the a/c was on. i had it reflashed and it went away.
