best was to tow a 1973 Ford F-250 Camper Spl
What is the best way to tow my 73 F-250 Camper Spl? I have a dead truck in the garage that needs to go to the shop. I figure flat bed is the way to tow her. But what is the best way to get her on the flat bead? Tow from the front or the rear? It is a manual 4 speed. Thank you

It's not clear what 'end' you're going to hitch up to. if it's 2WD, you've got fewer options from the front. if its 4WD, then I get it...you've got an axle at either end and presumably that's what you're talking about. for my old land rover - which weighs a lot less admittedly, the guys have always wrapped the winch cable around the axle.
i would think they'll have a plan and wouldn't sweat it too much. they do this all the time.

If you already have a flat bed/car hauler trailer, then yes back up to the trailer as close as you can allowing for ramps put down room. If its 2wd then hook a chain around the engine cross member, making sure to NOT get around the steering linkage behind the eng cross member. Hook it where the chain comes out/off at the bottom of the cross member to keep it off the bottom of the front bumper.
4wd then yes around the front axle tube. avoiding the drag link. If the truck is in the garage backwards then just hook to the rear axle tube, nearest the pumpkin.
A old school cable come along and have at it, or a electric winch will make it faster. Even it is it flat area to flat trailer, have some 4x4 block of wood as chalk blocks handy. Now if you do not own a trailer, just call a roll back wrecker service, quick, fast and way easier.
Now once it is on the trailer use chain and boomer or HD ratchet straps and ONLY strap the axle or tires to the trailer. DO NOT strap the body, let the suspension do its thing.
Best idea ever, chain can go thru the trailer stake pockets.
The 2 straps on the back end are just holding the bed to the frame, it was not bolted on. The little "just on case" chain was to make the guy driving the truck feel better. 3.5 hour road trip the straps never need tightened.
