shortbed supercab??

shortbed supercab??
Hey all,
I am not a big supercab fan, so I don't know a whole lot about them. I met a guy with a beautiful 78 F-250 supercab (and by supercab I mean the truck with a small seat behind the regular seat, not the 4 door). Truck was mint, to include the engine bay and frame. I would kill small cute puppies to have that truck. Anyway, he told me it was his fathers and that it had been wrecked - front end destroyed. Originally it had been a long bed. He then put the supercab on a regular cab frame w/a shortbed. I can't remember if he said he had the shortbed in his shop or he cut down a regular bed.Is this possible to do?
Didn't they make a shortbed supercab sometime in 73-79?
This guy is a stand up guy, one I would not mind having in the foxhole beside me if u know what hit the fan. Not the type to lie about anything at all.
