Is it dead?

I have a 97 F350 that I just put another motor in. I have been working out the bugs over the past few weeks. Saturday I started to get a miss, and the first thing I will do is change the fuel filter. Yest I noticed a slight amount of blow by coming out of the dip stick. I still have the motor I took out of the truck. I believe it has a cracked head or block but still ran great. Is the miss caused by the blow by or most likely fuel filter? Should I sell both the truck and motor and just be doen with them ?? Need help. Thanks

Some blow-by is normal. I would start by checking the valve cover connections and the harness under the valve covers. Its not uncommon for them to go bad.

I am hoping it is not a cracked ring or something to do with the cylinder wall. you would think there would be excess smoke it that were the case. I am going to change my fuel filter and check my connections after i get out of work. thanks for the help

there are alot of things that can cause a miss on these trucks. Is it a manual? if so, i would check the DMFW also, it can cause a feeling of a miss.

What would be to look for on the dual mass fly wheel? The motor was just put in less than a 1000 miles ago...........they said everything checked out then.

the flywheel should have 2 rotating masses, they should dave less than 5.8" of difference inplay, if it is close, or more than that, it needs replaced. IT causes a vibration when the 2 halves get out of spec that feels just like a miss.

Ended up being a burnt out exhaust valve which caused the EBP to go out. It is in the shop getting worked on right now.
