Sitting a long time.
Thanks
-change oil
-prime oil pump
-put couple squirts of oil into spark plug holes and rotate engine by hand
-tuneup - plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points (if not elec)
-drain old gas and change fuel filter
That would at least make it safe to start. Then to be driveable I would do more:
-change fluids - trans fluid, rear end oil and transfer case/ front end oil if 4x4
-change/flush antifreeze and change thermostat
-pack front wheel bearings
-check brake system
-check suspension for wear and siezed joints
By then you can safely take it for a short test drive without damaging anything. It's quite possible it will need more, time is hard on things. Carb may need rebuilt, fuel pump replaced, rubber hoses replaced. Brakes and joints may be siezed up from sitting. Fun, fun, fun... Enjoy your new truck...
