4x4 selector light out
Is there a single light bulb to change in the 4x4 selector *** on the 97? The light worked periodicaly before it stopped workin completley. Ive pulled off the trim when i installed a cd player and it looked like the switch was one self contained switch and I didnt want to mess with it, has nay one changed this light before?

The good news is that the bulb is removable, the bad news is that it's such a wierd bulb that you won't find one at Autozone. I'll bet some cash that the only way to get one from Ford is to buy the whole switch. Worked off and on at one point? Wonder if it's a wiring issue? The wires leading to the switch are so thin guage.

Zman764, my truck did the same thing. Went to the dealership, and you do have to buy the entire $45 switch just to get the bulb. Can't find it anywhere else. Soooo, I just went and bought the standard bulbs that are used throughout the cab, and also in the license plate lights, tapped into the correct wires running into the back of the 4x4 switch, and wired up the bulb. I think I had to modify the switch a little to get the bulb to fit, but haven't had any problems - except for that it was difficult to get to because it was tight quarters. Works great though, and it was cheap. Hope this helps
