I've sealed, insulated and padded the firewall and floor boards of my 53 but
the heat just keeps pourin in. Have any of you purchased or fabed any kind of deflectors or shields for your headers/ exhaust. If so did it work? Any good ideas on heat deflectors, insulation, heat disapation would be appreciated. I'm gettin tired of ridin around with ice in my boots.
You can purchase a wrap insulation that goes around header and exhaust pipe to keep the heat in the pipe. What kind of insulation did you put on the interior floor and firewall?
I "procured" some exhaust heat shields from newer vehicles and made brackets to mount them from the firewall to the back of the cab. They will keep the heat off the floor as well as the transmission and frame mounted brake master cylinder and booster.
Don't know how well they work yet,as I've only driven it around the block a few times.
If you look in my gallery, you will see a custom made radiator shroud. The drop ( centers ) are now being made into shields for the top of my pipes and muffs. It is a highly polished stainless steel and should work well. I am hoping the ceramic coating on and in my headers wont need wrap so I focused on the bottom of truck.
