Mechanic

Well I think I may have stumbled upon my first truck.

It's a '78 Ford F150, has a 460 in it, 4x4, 3" body lift, 31's on it, and has a new holley carb.

Well the only thing is it's 2 hours away.

My dad said we could probably go out and check it out but he wants me to find a mechanic there.

My question is, how much would a mechanic charge to look over this truck and tell me if it's worth $2500.

And if anyone lives in Altoona Pennsylvania, do you know anyone?

It depends on the area, but expect about 2 hours at ~$60 an hour.

If the motor has good compression, the 4x4 works, and it is not hacked together (3" body lift) then it is worth $2500. Even with a bad transmission. 1978-1979 are very desireable years.

Id just take a good look at it, crawl underneath it and check for excessive rust and leaks, and then drive it. If it drives nice and doesnt make any weird noises, Id go for it.

I've been looking for a good 78-79 around here for about 5 or 6 months. I've found a couple but they were in pretty bad shape.

I can't wait til I go up to Altoona to see it.
