H.I.D lights 04' SD

I would like to get the hid lights for my truck. Im not to sure on this subject. Ive been in cars with the H.I.D kits in them and they alluminate the road like a colored fluresent light. And iv been in cars where you'd just stick the different bulb in the head lights and the efect is sort of the same as stock. Just an imitation.
If anyone knows what im talking about. Dose anyone make an H.I.D kit for the ford trucks. And if so who?
Thanks, Mike

Mike,

H.I.D. lights:
1. check local laws to make sure they're LEGAL first. They're VERY costly, so I'd hate to see you make that mistake;
2. to find places that sell them, do a keyword search using any words like "H.I.D. lights", "Truck headlights/conversion kits"... etc, or any combo thereof;
3. when/if you do find a kit that you want to purchase, make sure it is complete with relays and the proper gauge wiring to accommodate the H.I.D. lights.

I did just the upgrade from stock to the Sylvania SilverStar 9007 bulbs, but I also installed the relay to prevent the wires from frying or from overloading the wires/circuits due to the fact that the 9007's generate more heat. Some here on FTE claim that you don't really need the relay and that the 9007's won't fry the stock wires, but for $40 for the relay, I wasn't going to take the chance. It was worth it to me to install the relay, if for nothing else than piece of mind and to do everything possible to not fry my wires and possibly start a fire!

I am happy with the upgrade bulbs only. I know the H.I.D. kits would have been twice as bright as my upgraded bulbs, but the price difference was prohibitive to me. I also don't get people flashing their brights at me thinking that my low beams are high beams! So that's nice, too...

Here's a few sites that might have the H.I.D. kits, to get you started:

1. try here on FTE's "Parts Shop" (click on top left of page);
2. www.stylinconcepts.com
3. www.aztrucks.com
4. www.central4wd.com
5. www.truckaddons.com
6. www.pickuptruck.com
7. www.summitracing.com
8. www.jegs.com

Good luck! And don't forget to check those laws first!!!

Daryl

Great info! Since my truck is lifted many people hate me when I pull up from behind. I have owned a couple aftermarket kits that I installed in a couple of my vehicles. I never have been challenged by the police, but I will tell you this. Stay away from purple and blue HID kits. Those colors make you a marked vehicle to pull over. If you go HID get the bright white or yellow kits.
