I had Kevlar pads put on Monday. So far I love them - the wheel isn't black with dust in 2 days like my old pads.

Amishland? We probably aren't too far from each other.

I have had Akebono ceramic pads on the front since about 3000 miles. Just could not stand the dust. I love these pads, no dust and quiet. Ford must of known that these were great pads, they put them on the 2005 Mustang and I am having similiar results on the car as well.

My office is on Rt.40 in Aberdeen - we do work on the proving ground. I can be across Norman Wood bridge and in Lancaster County in 15 min. I grew up in York County. My mother-in-law lives near Quarryville. I think we're pretty close!

The Porterfield's are great pads - I got mine on ebay.

Just curious where you guys bought the pads and who installed them. I'm nearing a brake job due to vibration issue, and eliminating the sqweaking and dust at the same time would be great. Thanks

I don't think you can go wrong with either. Having no dust is great.

How many miles have you guys been getting before a brake job? I've got about 23K on my 04 screw 4by. I ve been pretty hard on them, and I need to change them.

I put porterfield kevlar pads on around 15,000 miles and now have 32,800. No more brake dust and no more squeaks. I got them off the internet and installed them myself. I didn't wash my truck for two weeks once and no brake dust hardly at all and never a speck of the ugly brown stuff. I hated the originals amd am very happy with the kevlars.

I have used wellman linings for 20+ years both in pads and shoes. They are available from Carbotech Engineering (web site0 though they don't admit they are wellman linings or Hawk has them also. Typically, I get about 80,000 to 100,000 miles out of a set, 1/2 the dust of OEM units and about 20% greater braking with no rotor warpage....though when I do have to replace rotors I use Brembo OEM units that are cryogenically treated from Diversified cryogenics (also available from carbo & Hawk)
