filters

as a professed repairman (appliances, too lazy for auto), filters are an important part of life. when filters work, they need to be cleaned or changed. design of efficiency versus lcs (lack of common sense(lawyers are breeding it out of us)) has brought me to believe filters could be designed to catch all of the particles believed to cause wear, but we would not accept the cost of filters and the replacement schedule(as a lcd group(lowest common denominator)) would be horrific and anti-american((or anti-union), (anti-red,blue,green,purple, pasto, whatever.)) is there a filter company, system, or schedule that is better?

There are several filtering systems that have been on the market for years that are much more effiecient than conventional filters. Marketing is geared more toward industrial use though. Most of the general population is not concerned enough to be bothered. Look at how many quick lube type places there are and they seem plenty busy.

A big portion of wear on an engine comes from dry starts and would be eliminated by adding a prestart-lube system. I don't see many people putting those on their autos either.
