I have a new 2005 f-350 superduty 4x4 with the 6.0 PSD and a 5 speed automatic. Ocassionally when backing the truck up the transmission slips and than engages with a clunk. It doesn't do it in drive only in reverse so far. I only have 4000 miles on the truck so far. Has anybody else had this problem? I could use some advice.
I took the truck to the dealer and they told me that ford may not warranty the transmission because I have the truck lifted. I'm totally bummed. Ford gives money and awards to all these after market fabricators at the SEMA show and encourages to us to lift our trucks and than they don't want to warranty therir trucks. Whats up with that?
The lift in the suspension should only void the suspension related components. As long as you have the stock gears, they should still warranty any part of the drivetrain. It might take a bit of bullying, but most dealers will do it.
Hoka, I have had the same thing happen 3 times over 20k miles, if you find the problem be sure & post it here or pm me, thanks, if I find will do same.
I've been told that it may be a silenoid problem. I hope their right. I have the new FABTECH 8" 4LINK with the 4.0 coilovers. I have only put 500 miles on the lift so there is no way that the lift is causing the problem. I have had Fords my whole life and this is my third Superduty. If Ford doesn't back me up on this my next truck won't be a Ford.

Did the dealer do anything or just send you out the door without checking the problem. It sounds like the shift linkage needs adjusting to me.
05 with a ts trans . is it in or out of the recall area in vin. the problem was the reverse gear snap ring . causeing the recall action
i would also try another dealer if yours continues to give you a hard time over the lift
