New 6.0 PSD owner with a couple of Questions

I just bought my 1st PSD that I have wanted for a long time. I bought it with 47000 mi on it. I have a couple of questions for some seasoned owners. I see there is some controversy on the reliability of this motor. So far so good (knock on wood) I want to know if everyones stock 6.0 smokes when full throttle is applied? My does it like it has a chip in it and I have looked for one and did not find it. Also do all motors take a few turnovers to start? Sometimes I have to hold the key and let it turn over for 3 or 4 seconds before it starts. I wait for the glow plug light to go off which only takes about a second. I appreciate your responses.

Mine smokes only when I floor it. It also takes a few seconds to start. You will also fine that the glow plug light will take longer to go out the colder it gets.

Could have been programed, w/o the programmer coming with the truck. Sometimes programmers / fuel boxes will make lots of smoke.

Or...could be EGR valve stuck in open position but, that would cause drive-ability issues you would have probably noticed right off the bat.
