styleside longbed replacement
Can anyone tell me whether or not the bed from a '77 SuperCab (longbed) is a direct bolt-on replacement for the 8' bed on my '79 regular cab F250?
I found the '77 bed today, and the guy at the yard was absolutely sure the two are identical, but somewhere in my rusted and creaky memory, I think I recall reading a post here at FTE that makes me think they are not. I've done a bunch of searches on the forum and archives, but haven't been able to find the info I need.
I guess a few minutes with a tape measure before I left the house would have helped!

i think it will be the same dimesions but i dont know if the mounting holes are the same, you could always drill new if you had to. buy it, if it doesnt work make a utility trailer out of it:-X12

The only differences I can think of are:
1.Frame width. I'm not sure if the frame of the 77 F150 is the same width as a 79 F250. If not the same, this is easily fixed with drilling new holes.
2.Wheel opening. This should be the same between these two trucks. The only one I know is different is the Super Camper Special (F350)which has the wheel opening placed closer to the rear of the bed.
3.Fuel filler. The 77 bed should have just a cap on the outside of the bed and the 79 bed has a door over the filler cap.
