I have noticed an unusual problem. I can twist the right hub with my fingertips, but it takes pliers to turn the left hub. Any ideas what will cause this hub to be so tight.
I had that issue a couple of years ago on my 2001. I began having trouble with one hub not releasing after being in 4WD. Finally last winter I had to have the hub replaced. I believe they replaced a vacuum seal or something so the hubs would automatically switch in and out with the 4WD switch as well. I really never found out if the problems were related or not.
I don't know what would cause it but you can fix it by replacing them. Standard Warn hubs only cost about $150 from most places I’ve seen. I haven’t replaced mine yet but will be in a week or two when I install gears and a locker up front. If you want to save the money I would pull both sides off and just lube the hell out of everything.
Take the hub off by removing the snap ring and then pulling and wiggling alot! They will come off! Soak the whole assembly int ATF for 15 minutes or so then re-install. They should turn like new, or close anyway!
