Hard Downshifting
88 F-150, AOD, 4x4, ext cab long box, 302, 8.8 rear end
My question:
When I am coming to a hard stop, the transmission downshifts to first gear hard, sometimes to the point that the RPMs drop to about 400 or less. During the downshifting, I can't feel it shifting through any of the other gears hardly at all.
I notice that if I let it slow down (coast) a while before applying brakes the down shift is much less noticeable if non-existant.
Acceleration through all gears are great.
I had the tranny fluid changed about 25000 miles ago (It was the quick lube kind) I don't think the filter was changed at the time.
Fluid level is good and looks very clean.
Any help is much appreciated.
