I put a new gas tank in my truck, and the only thing different was it wasent vented, i took the gas cap off the other day and out came air, here latelly its been hard to start, could that be a problem? There was a spot for two tubes on the side, the one gas goes in and a smaller one, it has both but like the old one it also had one at the top of the tank.
The tank needs to be vented in some way. Possibly with a vented cap in your case. If not you can build up a vacuum that will cause hard starting and vapor lock type conditions. You could also get a face full of fuel when you open the cap.
Well I think I figured it out, went and took the gas cap off and let it sit a few minutes and started up like it was suppost to. I have always had trouble finding a gas cap, the one I have is somewhat vented, you cna blow though it and a little air goes through but maybe not enough, or maybe is there a way to drill and place some type of vent on top of the tank. I was told there are 2 kinds of tanks, california emmisions and non emmisions, and my truck had one type and then I put another type in it.
