E4OD leaking problem

E4OD leaking problem
Is it normal for the torque converter to drain back into the pan when the vehicle isn't in use for a while?
The E4OD in my '94 E150 van currently has a leaking pan gasket. I haven't driven it in about two weeks. In that period of time it has leaked about 1 1/2 quarts of fluid at the pan gasket. This has to be from the torque converter. It seems to me that it isn't normal for the TC to drain down like that or the cold mark on the dipstick would be higher than the hot mark.
Is there a check valve or some other device that is supposed to prevent this?
Is this relly a problem or I'm I just noticing it because of the leaking pan gasket?
