Tranny And Exhaust ?????s

Hey all, anyone got suggestions on getting the tranny out? I've got it all loose with about a two inch gap between the bell housing and the engine, but i can't get it to come off.Any tips? Also since i'm up in there and i've got the exhaust loose now would be a good time to change that. I unhooked the exhaust and noticed the pipe was flat and like 4" wide by the firewall. Is this what all stock exhaust look like, and how the hell do you get a four inch down pipe to fit in there? Thanks for any help.

Did you unbolt the torque converter from the flex plate and push it back?

I'm assuming that you have an OBS (Older Body Style) because of your crappy downpipe. The downpipe is supposed to be like that....unfortunately. OBS' came with the smashed downpipe and a decent muffler. The newer ones came with a decent downpipe and a crappy, restrictive muffler. Man, when are they going to get it right.!?
A 4" downpipe will fit with some minor modification but is a total PITA.

Can You Describe Minor Modifications? Does That Mean Pounding In The Firewall?

optracer100,

You can get a 3 inch down pipe in a 1994-97 PSD, we have one that generally requires very little firewall modifications etc. It has a different shape to the cobra head section and that is why it fits better than lots of them out there. We also have cat test pipes and full systems in aluminized and 409 stainless. Call us if you have any questions, you NEED to do it now as it's a thousand times easier with the tranny out!
