Be Honest Now.....

How many of you have actually tested your GFIC on a regular basis?

In case some of you aren't sure what a GFIC is; it stands for

GROUND FAULT INTERRUPTER CIRCUIT.

It can also be called a GFI.

Mainly located in the bathroom and kitchen and elsewhere close to a water source.

It's usually an outlet with a TEST button and a RESET button.

It can also be on a circuit panel.

Your'e suppose to check them on a weekly/monthly basis.

I don't have one anywhere. But I do have one on the hair dryer which I used, not to dry my hair but to air up an air mattress lol.

I test mine every month or so. I have 3 in my house. I'm thinking of changing mine to the newer ones that light up when they trip.

I don't check mine to often. Had to replace the one in the bathroom last year when a thunder storm knocked it out. The same storm knocked out my neighbors tv and stereo.

I've tested those more often than I've meant to... It's just so easy to accidentally hit that test button and then think your hair dryer or curling iron is broken when it won't turn on... Other than that I've never actually thought of checking them. I didn't know it was important to do so.

When I was a kid I always got yelled at for constantly pushing the buttons on them.

Just about everytime I am sitting on the stool, and I don't have any new 4x4 mags.

Our house was built in 1959...most of our plugs aren't even the three prong grounded outlets. I've been shocked by higher than household voltage at work before. No biggie. Just stings for a few.
