Id bet you are getting the storm that was here in southern Wisconsin yesterday. It was a petty wicked storm: hail, strong winds, lightning. Supposedly a funnel cloud was spotted but it never acutally became a tornado.
I saw lots of fallen trees this morning on the way to work.

I am not gonna complain about hail...today is the 1st day it has rained in this part of Illinois in over a month, and the rain we got then wasn't enough to help the crops much....maybe the drought is over finally!!!....I am glad for the farmers, but guess that means I'll have to start cutting grass again, haven't done that for at least a month and half!!
By the way, I was watching the news and they said that they think that a tornado DID touch down in Milton, WI (about 5 miles away from where I live).

YAY for rain, its been 105* with 110* heat index and we are finally getting rain, two storms are merging of my town, and dang i just jumped out my skin, lighting struck a tree outside, wow, im off the pc be on lata
Hey F15090300--How'd that storm end up treating you guys? We've got it coming our way soon. It could rain green cows for all I care, I just hope to get rid of this heat. They just reported that Philadelphia used more energy yesterday during the heat than....EVER! They even think today could beat that record unless this storm makes it through soon.
I've been watching the news about ya'lls heat wave up there. It's like that here every year, so I'm used to it. We just open the hangar doors, and use a lot of fans! Usually drive with the windows down, to save gas.
Go find a covered parking lot and park it, take the bus or taxi home.
Find a friend or relative who will let you park under cover.
If I absolutely couldn't get under cover, I would consider putting some temporary cover over the car. An idea... wet newspaper. You could put down several layers of wet newspaper on the car. I would make it maybe 1/4 inch thick or more. Wet paper sticks really well to a car, as long as it stays wet. I think but cannot prove that the soft squishy paper will stop damage from all but baseball size hail.
Be sure to remove the wet paper as soon as the danger is past and keep it wet til ready to remove. You don't want to let it sun dry.
