I posted about this a few days ago, but now I can be a bit more specific about the problem.
When I turn the key, whether its cold or hot, the truck wont start until I pump the gas...alot.
After i drive around for a few minutes, it will idle, but its rough. It almost dies, then comes back to life, and almost dies, back to life, over and over again, and finally dies and everything shakes alot.
Could this be the carburator? or is it a vacuum leak somewhere.
I think this would be a common problem, so maybe there is a well known fix for it.
Get a carb rebuild kit and and choke thermostat($20), Check and replace ignition components as needed, and use some carb spray on your vacuum lines, egr, etc to identify any leaks and replace any old/cracked vacuum lines even if they appear to not be leaking.
It's a vacuum diaphragm for emissions located between the carburetor and intake manifold. It's purpose is to recirculate exhaust gases back into combustion thus reducing emissions.
