Supercharge It!! ????
I want to replace the engine with a 5.4L V8 or a 6.8L V10. The 2000 engines are better, so I thought of dropping one of those in if it will work. But a bigger engine alone will not do it. Has anyone had any experiences with engine swaps?
And of course back to the topic of this thread, I have looked and called all over the place looking for a supercharger for a Ford E-Series and it seems that no one makes one. No big surprise I guess. However, there are plenty of supercharger kits for F-Series pickups and I wondered if one of those kits might work. Anyone had any experiences in this arena?
Any other suggestions for wheel-shredding-type-power would be appreciated.
As far as engine swaps go, it really would cost a lot less money and be much easier to simply trade up to a van with a larger engine. In modern cars, swapping the engine for something different is much more than just the engine itself, but also the computer and prossibly the wiring harness as well. If your van is a conversion, maybe own both for awhile and swap the interior bits.
Supercharging is again a "on your own" deal and really comes down to money as many parts will require trial and error fabrication to work. The old hot-rodder's moto of "how fast do you want to go? how much money do you have?" really applies here.
If you want some more mid-range punch for on-ramp acceleration, maybe look into swapping the gear ratio in the rear.
