'79 4x4 help
Hey guys, I have a 1979 f-250 4x4 351m, T-18, NP205. I was wondering if these can be shifted into 4 wheel drive while the truck is moving? Also what is the Max. speed for 4 hi on the road?

You don't want to shift your truck into 4wd while moving, it doesn't have a shift on the fly 4wd like some of the newer trucks. You can go into some mud with you hubs locked in while in 2wd, then switch into 4 hi or 4 lo when your stoped with your foot on the brake and transmition in neutral, then go.
But yeah don't go over 30mph in 4 lo.

As long as the front driveline is spinning the same speed as the rear (hubs locked, and your rear tires not spinning out) it's okay to shift between 2 and 4 high. I wouldn't really recommend doing it at high speeds though, as there's no need for 4 high if you're going that fast anyway.

I always shift when traveling at no more then 15 mph into 4 hi. I alway shift to 4 lo when the vehicle is stoped.
Shift to 2 hi when the truck is rolling forward slowly. Then turn your four wheel hubs trom the lock position to the free position.
