Is 4.25" all we get?

Why do they only make stroker cranks up to 4.25"? I know there was a 4.375" crank in an FE, something about a "starlifter" engine or something.

So anyway... How big of a stroke crank can we fit in an FE? Is 4.5" unheard of? At what point do we need to start clearancing things?

4.25 appears to be a safe stroke with a stock block.

4.375 is a safe stroke with Shelby, and possibly stock.

4.5 is a doable stroke with Shelby, but requires clearancing. Doubtful on a stock block.

Honestly, on a typical street driven engine, I doubt you could feel the difference between a 4.25 and a 4.375. The dyno would show it though.

Who knows. Maybe we can talk somebody into putting a 3.75 in and finding out for sure on a stock block. I don't know, however, if you can get a cast crank in 4.375. If not, then can you say "Billet"? $2500.

Ya, but it's getting someone to actually MAKE it......
I waited 11 months for my Scat...gave up and just got a cast stock piece. I suppose I could have spent a bit more and just got a Crower...but maybe they didn't have any also?? Won't ever know now....LOL!!!!
