You don't need din tools...

I am kind of new and I don't know if anyone has ever posted this, but instead of buying din tools to remove the factory radio, you can use a metal coat hanger cut and bent in the shaped of u's. It works perfectly.

I wouldn't say it works perfectly, but it does work, the tool is much better.

I did not have any problems with it. Just some info for those other guys that don't like to spend money on something they will not ever use again.

I used finishing nails to get mine out. One of my tabs had broke so the coathanger would just bend out of shape and wasn't strong enough.

I would suggest the tools to anyone that hasn't pulled their radio and is new to working on things just because they are easier to use for some people.

I made a set out of a steel whip cb antenna. I've found coat hangers can bend and be more of a pain than good if you get a radio that is stubborn. Like silver bullet said - nails will work. Allen wrenches work well also. You just have to know how the tabs work - how far to push in and which way to bend...

We used nails to pull my factory deck out as well. We ended up doing something wrong and ended up having to trash the deck, but o-well. It wasn't that big of a deal to me. The Pioneer deck in it now will never come out until the pickup is sitting on a rock pile somewhere.

I would also recommend the tool to any stereo beginner. The tool's just easier to work with until your used to how things work, like mentioned.
