I have a 1978 Bronco Custom that has never had a/c. I'd like to install a/c in it, and I'd like to know what my options are. If any of you have tackled this, I'd love to hear about your experiences.
For the non AC 79 and ealrier trucks/broncos the firewall has to be cut in order to fit the AC box in place. just take a look at a truck with AC and one with out and you can clearly see the amount of firewall that has to be removed but it can be done. That's if you want factory parts. I'm sure there are plenty of companys offering after market AC that would more than likely fit under the dash for your truck. SOrry I don't know of any off hand because I have never messed with after market AC stuff. I see ads in the mustang mags I get that has after market AC for vintage stangs and other cars. I think they're called Vintage Air?
I would like to do the same to my '79 Bronco. I have a '79 Bronco that I am parting out, that at one time had factory air, but the previous owner ripped 98% of it out, because it didn't work.... I don't want to know what he was thinking.....
Just wondering the guy that I got my Bronco from took off the A/C compressor to do some job, I was wondering what would be involed to install it back? Do I have to take the power stering off or no? I have the compressor and the pully to put it back, but just wondering what's needed to do so.
Thanks for any help,
Matt
Not trying to steal the tread, but you could always get a parts truck for cheap and take the a/c off of it and install it on yours and part out the rest of the truck, and get a a/c and more money than you bought it for.
Yes, you do have to take off the power steering bracket to re-install the AC bracket. When he took it off, he must have put in some type of spacer in between the Power steering bracket & the motor, to fill the empty space caused by the AC bracket missing... I know, I put washers in the AC brackets place, because the previous owner took off the compressor, but left the bracket...
