Hood paint flaking

Hood paint flaking
04 350 with 5.4 Washed the beast this weekend, noticed an area on the hood where the paint was flaking off (probably about an inch square) It does not have the hood blanket. Anyone else have this problem, and does the lack of a hood blanket have anything to do with it? I'll be stopping by the dealer to get they're take on it.

hey when you first saw it did it look like a rust spot (not rusty but the paint lifted and was bubbly lookin like when theres rust underit) but there was clean surface underneath
just wondering i found a spot on my truck 04 f250 that looked like that but when i investigated it the top layers of paint were comin off and it was fine underneath ( well not fine but you know not rusted)

Paint Flaking Off
Found a spot tonight similar to what you describe on my new (to me) F-350 CC Dually. It's a 2003.
It's on the roof of the cab, though. No rust, about 1-1.5" in diameter. Paint just flaked off... no damage, scrapes... nothin'.
The rest of the vehicle is spotless. Wierd.

I have the same issue as 2Gordons. Mine is a spot just above the windshield over the passenger side. At first I thought it was from a stone that chipped off the paint, but it simply fell off. I am having a body shop take a look at it to see if there are any other issues. 1999 F350 SC that is parked outside all the time (don't have a garage big enough for it).
