i will need to put new locking hubs on my 84 f 150 ford 4x4 p/u with a ttb dana 44. so might as well repack the wheel bearings also right? i have no idea what size socket/spanner wrench i need to remove the rotor/hub assy. went to a auto parts store to ask what size they where. said they did not know. so i'm sure someone here knows. thanks for any help..........Les
Most parts stores have a Dana 44 spindle nut socket. It will have 4 pins on it to mate with the notches in the spindle nuts. They usually run about $25 bucks. Additionally, you'll need a set of hex keys in SAE sizes for the hub face, a pair of snap ring pliers, a small pick for the outer ring, a seal puller (or thin cold chisel), a hammer and a big drift punch for your brakes. That's about it unless you replace the races for any reason, then you'll need a long drift pin or punch. Both sides complete is about a 4-6 beer operation.
And by the way, since your parts guy doesn't know what you're talking about, find a new parts man. It'll save you hours of frustration later.
Good Luck,
Ernie
