I have a 1989 Ford F250 4x4 SC w/351 auto. I have been getting a 34 trouble code. I applied vaccume to the EGR valve and it seems to work OK and doesn't leak vaccume. I installed a new EGR vaccume regulator from Ford with no improvement. I checked the vaccume lines to the EVR and EGR. I installed a vaccume guage between the EVR and the EGR and drove it, but couldn't get any vaccume reading. I checked the voltage to the EVR it was almost 11 volts with the connector disconnected. When I back probed the connector with it connected to the EVR the voltage drops to almost nothing .006 volts. Does this indicate a problem with the wiring or should the voltage drop when connected to the EVR? I also installed a remanufactued ECM with no improvement. I'm hoping there are some Ford tecks out there that could help me with my problem.

Update on EGR problem, I figured out the voltage drop when back probing the EVR after it was conneted. When the connector was plugged in to the EVR it completed the circuit and all I was measuring was the difference in voltage before and after the EVR valve. Anyway I went to a wreaking yard and got a used EVR valve to try because everything else looked ok even though my EVR was brand new from Ford. Well guess what the used one works great, I must have got a bum one from ford Thier reciept states no returns on electrical parts or special orders which this part was both by the way it was stamped "made in Canada". Guess I need to stick with Autozone.
I would return it anyway and tell them you got a used one and that fixed the problem. They should stand by their parts regardless what the reciept says!
