How Much Boost ?

Hey Guys,

This is my first post after lurking here for a month reading and reading.
Thanx to all you guys who make this great forum.

Anyhow,

I recently bought a 2000 F350 CC LB Dually w/ 7.3 PSD
Truck has 114,000 on it and is a Texas truck.

I just added a 4" magnaflow exhaust with the 4" Downpipe. I have yet to convert to the 6637 but I will once my Napa gets it in. I have inspected the air box for cracks and it seems to seal A-ok so I put a new filter in. Impeller blades looks good with sharp edges and are close to the wall.

I also added an Edge juice w/attitude which replaced a gold superchips.

My problem lies with the amount of boost which seems low.

How much boost does the stock 7.3 produce ?
How much should I see with the edge/attitude combo ?

I see at Max 14psi with my foot in it and around 700 egts
When Im cruising at 65- 70 I see 4-6 psi and 550 - 675 on the egt gauge.
Does this seem normal ? I thought I would get more boost than this and I think with the superchip it had more power.

Can I run the egde box and the supchip at the same time ? I could plug the chip in again and just use the attitude for gauges I guess but it seems silly considering the amount it cost. I had it installed by a reputable dealer however it seems to make no difference from the stock setting to the extreme setting. No difference in boost at all in all the settings and I cant really tell that it pulls harder.

any insight would helop at this point with the amount of boost I should see.I realize that with the bigger exhaust it will drop but i would think id get more than 14psi.

Thanx in advance
Ryan L

PS. Will this 7.3 ever produce enough power to burn these duals ? I know this is a heavy truck but that would be cool

Sounds like your not getting as much boost as you should.. I have a 99' PSD 350 with the Diablo Predator, straight piped, Kwik filter mod, and I unplugged my wastegate actuator, and i'm seeing over 20 psi when I punch it. Is your turbo dusted, maybe a leak somewhere?

i have an 02 with the wix 46637 from fleetfilter.com, same as napa 6637 just less expensive, wastegate actuator unpluged, stock exhaust except for the walker btm, gauges, and predator tuner set on 60hp/145 ft lbs of torque tune... i get 25 lbs of boost if i get on it going up to highway speed running empty... and once that needle goes past 20 psi... hold on...!

Where does does your boost gauge get it's reading, and have you inspected the tubing all the way to the gauge to make sure it isn't kinked?

Your boost level and EGT's at cruise are completely normal, but you should see a little more than 14 PSI stock and well beyond 14 with either the Superchip or the edge.

I forget which Edge product does what, but if you are using the Edge module that is not a handheld programmer, then you can run it and the chip at the same time. If it is the hand held, you cannot stack them.
