Here's one possibility:

http://www.bulkpart.com/Merchant2/me...gory_Code=A4LD

and some info on A4ld rebuilds, with some more links:

http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Flats/3349/a4ld.htm

Some good info in there. -TD

Thanks again for all the info. I guess I just have to make up my mind now on what way I want to go.

I'm sure you'd have to use the S-10 T-case. They are most likely both New Process units, so the physical dimensions would be the same. New Process makes Transfer cases for everybody, and I think they do a pretty good job at making them as universal as possible. The front output yoke is most always removable, and the Ford yoke could probably be installed taking care of the front driveshaft. The rear will definitely be different, so you'd end up with a driveshaft with GM U-joint on the front end, and ford on the other. That's not necessarily a bad thing if yours had the CV joint driveshaft that was such a piece of crap even Ford acknowledged it.
By all means, contact Advance Adapters before taking my word for it. They add stuff all the time, and I'd hate for you to go to all that trouble if a different output shaft and extension housing was coming out in a few months.
A 3800 Camaro torque converter would be the best to run in your 700 for your truck; the 3800 was the most powerful engine (200 HP) that used the small 10" converter. It would be "tight" for your smaller engine, but great for towing and off-roading.
It would be a lot of work, but if you really like the truck, I think you'd be happy with it in the long run.
Where's all the hate mail I've been expecting? I'm impressed with the open mindedness of you guys out there. If I went to a Chevy site and told folks to put Ford parts in their truck, I'd be getting death threats on my answering machine!! Everybody builds good and bad, don't ever forget it.

Well, I would, but as a moderator we're not allowed to make death threats against users... All kidding aside, it's not something that I would do personally. If I were planning to keep an automatic in my Ranger, I'd go ahead and rebuild it myself with the upgrade parts and some advice from the nice guy who owns the transmission shop up the street from my work...but that's me. I never like to fork out a buck if there's a chance I can do it myself.
But, as I'm not really a big fan of automatics, my tired Ranger A4ld is going bye-bye anyway in favor of a T-5...behind the 5.0. I was (briefly) considering using an AOD I have, but I just like shifting gears, and have never been happy with the power loss from a slushbox. JMHO. -TD
