I just purchased a "01 Super Duty with the 7.3 6 speed. Awsome truck. The idiot that owned it before me cut the trailer connector harness under the dash instead of unplugging it. I have an emergency tow that I need to do. I need to fix this harness fast. The color codes I have come up with is as follows:
Blue = Trailer Brake
Red = Hot Battery Lead
White = Ground
Green = Brake Trip Switch.
Is this correct.
I await a reply as I need to do this tow on Tuesday!

Ford Blue = Trailer Brake = Reece Blue
Ford Red = Hot Battery Lead = Reece Black
Ford White = Ground = Reece White
Ford Green = Brake Trip Switch = Reece Red
right off my trucks wireing kit
ford dark blue = trailer electric brake feed
red = trailer brake control feed
white = ground
lt. green = stop lamp feed to brake control
glad we could help
Hey, by the way. How do you get the forum to show your signature?
right now it's a turned off item to help reduce page size. you could also join up for about 16 dollars a year and have more privliges and have it show all the time
Well, I just got another mind screw with this little wiring job. No green wire. It is black. Should the brake wire acitvate (lite up) just by pressing on the brake?
I still have not figured it out. No power on the Ford Red lead. All fuses and circuit breakers are in. Power to the rear battery charger when running. All lights working. Just no power to the controller. I did find all four wires of the same color taped to a harness under under the hood neat the master cylinder. Could this mean that it is not hooked up?

yes it should light up when you hit the brake. check to make sure the fuse for the controller is ok (all i can think of)
the cut off and taped wires near the master cylinder are put there by ford to help you hook up other items( the other ends are near the fuse block under the dash) and are not part of the trailer tow system
