waxing canopy ?

anyone here have a suggestion on what to use? i was thinking maybe some kind of boat polish, but haven't started looking....

i'm not looking for a shine, but rather protection from sun, and other natural corossion...

thanks in advance

Any wax will do. I personally just use good old Turtle Wax. Of course, my top is clearcoated.

clear coated?

that seems weird especially with the canopy being fiberglass, and having the texture finish to it..

hmmmm

I dont see anything weird about it....Check my gallery. I painted it along with the rest of my truck, and clear-coated it all. I didnt see any reason not to have a shiney top too. It has a textured look, but is smooth to the touch.

I used a fiberglass wax (boat) and it worked for a few days, then it faded. I think that it's best to just repaint it.

sorry matt... weird meaning -- I personally wouldn't think to clear coat it... my bad, i'm sorry i didn't make that clear in my last post !! = )

i hope you added a flex agent into the clear so that if the canopy flexes (which i'm sure at one point they will/do) so that the clear wouldn't crack...

for now, i'll stick with some kind of wax hoping that someone has had good luck with a certain brand or kind...

oh and my canopy isn't faded, i'm just looking for somekind of protection from UV rays, and other corosives...

hey wait --

just courious if the clear coat is being done by others as long term protection for the canopys?

i plan on keeping THIS rig for as long as i can, and am wondering about other protection options besides the wax... (and now the clear coat)

thx

No it is a protectant much like armorall. You won't findit in wallyworld. I buy it at a boat place but Summit carries it.
