cold air intake

I am wanting to put a cold air intake on my 04 ranger edge 3.0L. I contacted K&N and they told me that they did not have any applications tht would fit. What all would I have to do to make the kit myself.

Try this: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s....php?p=1546278

It's from the tech sticky at the top of the forum page. It's for a 2.3, but there may be some workable info there for you. Good luck! -TD

I also have an '04 like your's. First of all, the stock box IS a cold air system. The problem is (and the reason no kits are available) Ford, in their infinate wisdom, removed the MAS from the air tube and made it intergral with the top of the air box. About all you can do is remove the input tube to the airbox and replace the paper filter with a K&N. Since your engine is not starved for air at lower RPM's, you will only notice a difference at high RPM's. I had a big K&N cone filter with a big stainless tube on my '99 3.0 and noticed little difference from stock. Good luck.

I used the MAC air intake or my 02 ranger edge with the 3.0L. It made a big difference. It's not like it will throw you back into the seat cuz its only an upgraded intake. I like it a lot though. You can hear the air being sucked into it. Wasn't too bad and it dynoed more hp VS the K&N system according to the net. Plus it was cheaper, that's the real reason i went to the MAC intake.

Hey there fellow edge driver man you really must have caught the guy at the wrong time at K&N. Check out my ride in the picture gallery and as you can clearly see my 04 edge has a cold air kit from K&N installed it is a stage 3 kit and is available in the 3.0 and 4.0 litre versions i picked it up off a web site in the u.s at a fraction of the cost that our local auto stores would have brought it in for and even with the exchange, duty and extra postal costs i still saved a bit of coin so yes there is a cold air kit out there by K&N specific to your ride however i had a few problems with the air sensor but it seemed to fix itself
