Thump in Rear End
I have a 05 4X4 F150, XLT and it seems that when moving from a standstill the rear end almost momentarily feels like it is "spooling up" and then away you go. Limited slip type so is this endemic to these types of rear ends? It feels like it slips and catches on start from a dead stop so maybe spooling up is not the right word. Otherwise nothing untoward happening. Great truck.....but also has a sorta rough idle.....but runs great. Getting 18 on the freeway with the 5.4.

I have a 04 4X4 XLT supercab. I have no problem wih the "thump" you are talking about. The one thing i have to watch out for is when i first start the truck, i have to wait a second before i shift it into drive or it will take off from under me. I have found no problem with a rough idle either. On a lighter note, i got 19.6 mpg on the highway the other day driving a 5 hour road trip. I set the cruise at 60 (made others pissed beause speed limit was 70, but oh well) i was pleasently suprised with that becuase i have the 5.4.
