need help and advice!

Ok, I have started a overhaul on my 390 engine that rebuilt 10,000 by some know it all guy, that doesn't even know what parts are what let alone what needs to be done.

First off I am looking for .002 undersize rod bearings. I have cb760p1 clevites right know but I need to go to .002. The main bearings are real nice at .001. I have no idea how the crank is in this good of shape. I polished it up a little and we are ready to go.

Next, I supposedly had a high volume oil pump but it looks like a standard melling M57 and not the M57hv. I ordered a heavy duty ARP driveshaft thinking I had a hv pump. Should I go ahead and get the high volume or use the one I got? (I will run this engine up to 4000-5000 rpm all the time)

And as for everyone still running non adjustable rockers, what pushrods are you guys using? I am looking at summit brand G6416, they seem mostly stock but supposedly have welded tips instead of press fit. I am having a hard locating decent pushrods for non adjustable. Would melling, trw, speed pro have something better than stock?

Last of all are adjustable rockers the only way to set lifter preoald on fe's? Anyone enlighten me because I know very little about it right now!

Oh yeah, one more, which intake for power; the edel rpm or 1961 390 hp?

Sealed Power makes .002 undersize number 3230cp-2, I'm sure Clevite does also. Personally I use the HV pumps, after performing the oil mods, especially restricting the oil to the top end. Speed Pro number RP3227R is a chrome moly 3/8" pushrod for non-adjustable rockers.
You can adjust the preload with either longer pushrods-for more preload or by shimming the rocker stands or shorter pushrods-for less preload.
The Edel RPM will extend your RPM range higher than the old 390 HP , likely without losing any power at the bottom.

Cost of entire assembly divided by cost of part = cheap insuarance

Sure, I like to tinker. But I really DON'T like doing it over again.
