I'm a new Aerostar (1986, 2.3L, 5-speed manual) "cargo ship" owner (Been callin' it the "Gooney Bird", like a C-47). I expect it to be more reliable than that "other brand" I had, a full-size G20 I called the "Enterprise" ( Lord, that thing was big)... except when it was broken down- then I called it the "Minnow". :-)
Anyway, I'm glad I found this forum, 'cause I know more about airplanes than cars. "Aerostar"... cool name!
Naw... my eyes weren't good enough. Just an aircraft enthusiast. My Dad was a tech sgt. in the air corps and then the reserve (waist gunner on a B-24, too). I give my vehicles smart-aleck names like "shuttlecraft" and "Gooney Bird". I used to hang out at airports, a long time ago, and help people do their annuals, talk to the old warhorses and take an occasional free lesson. Even a young kid couldn't do that, now- wartime security and all. Now if only I had a new, black Mustang GT... I could call it the "Blackbird"...
