Been Awhile...again!
You all gave me alot of things to check into, I just haven't done it. But this morning my daily driver ('68 Plymouth Fury 4dr) wouldn't start. So I fired up my reluctant work horse. After pumping the gas about a hundred times, she finally chugged back into service.
I was pretty pleased, so I decided to do her a favor. I went out and bought her an Edelbrock Performer Series 600 cfm 4bbl with electric choke. Installation seems like it will be pretty straight forward. I'm at about 4,300 ft above sea level. The guy who sold it to me has the same carb on a Bronco with a 302. He says tighten both adjustment screws all the way, and back them out 1 and 1/2 turns. I'll maybe give it a shot Tomorrow before the turkey or perhaps Friday.
I'm not sure the carb is to blame for my stalling problems, but I bet she'll start easier and run better with the new carb.
I was pretty fed up with my Ford, and was going to sell her off, but I've put so much in her already it seems a shame to lose all the money I put in at this point.
I plan to lower the truck and get some wheels, tires, and have a Maaco spray bomb dropped on her this summer. Nothing too fancy, she's still a work truck, more or less...
Are there any cool, yet sporty 8 bolt rims out there? Everything I see looks like it should be on a lifted truck. Is there any hope for an 8 bolt cruiser? Or is it not too hard to convert to a light duty 5 bolt?
I have a 4:10 rear on there now, and I think that should be changed for better highway driving. What can I do? If I change the rear to a taller setup, am I likely to have a 5 bolt rear and an 8 bolt front?
You guys have always been there for me in the past, and I hope you can help me now.
Thanks all!
