Just Checking In...
Been a Ford fan for years, ever since my first flathead. Always have a couple or more. Decided to get a desert/hunting/outback piece, wanted an old crawler with generator and standard shift so it could be started rolling downhill if the battery cratered in the outback. Couldn't find such an animal in a couple years, so gave up and found an '89 F150 I-6, FI, 5-spd 4WD. Even has A/C which is an unnecessary creature comfort thing but OK. Had all kinds of ills at first, been in the farmer's chicken coop for the last two years, had a million wasps building nests in every crack they could find. All the hoses, radiator seams, seals, PS pump, everything with fluids bleeding from every crack, and the timing gear had jumped a cog. Kept putting in the fluids and eventually everything sealed back up, changed the AC from R12, got new ign wires, dist cap, replaced all the vacuum lines which were toasted brittle. Had a heck of a time with the unusual timing but found the answer here at the I-6 forum. Anyway, you get the idea, about like most of you have done. Right now it's only a set of shocks away from the desert.
Be hanging out mostly on the Inline-6 forum, since I'm steeped in V8 but a newby for the 4.9, and none of my V8's need help right now.
Just happy to be here, glad to find Ford-Trucks.com. Gone to the I-6 shop. Regards, CodeJunkie
