Check Engine Light

1997 F-150 4.6 Triton Engine. Can I check the codes for this motor to figure out why my check engine light is on? If so how do I go about doing this? I have done it on my "90 Areostar and was hoping this would be the same.

Thanks

Kevin

I'm guessing that you could cause the Aerostar to show the codes by a series of flashes produced by the check engine light. Your F-150 is equipped with a more sophisticated engine management system. You need an OBD-II code reader. There is no way to produce the codes without this piece of hardware.

Go to Auto Zone or Advance, they will normally read the code for you for free.

I thought that might be the case. Thanks fellow Ford Truck members.
