when i start up my 88 F150, idle goes up to approx 2000rpm, then goes back to normal idle. could this be a sticking throttle cable? if so, how can this be lubricated??
Jeff,
I don't have a tach in my truck but it is normal for it to idle high after startup and then drop back down to around 700. The time it takes to drop varies with temp ie: it takes longer in the winter. In my truck, if you goose the gas pedal it will drop down whether its done with this warmup cycle or not.
